Leave the bandage on for at least 3 hours. Wait to remove bandage until you are home or somewhere that you can wash it thoroughly
When you take the bandage off wash immediately with antibacterial soap. The first and only the first wash should be very thorough. Wash for 5-10 minutes with warm to hot water. With your hand, lather the soap on and around the tattoo and rinse until all soap and blood are completely washed away.
Gently pat dry with a CLEAN PAPER TOWEL and then apply a VERY SMALL AMOUNT of Aquaphor After the first wash.
After the initial thorough wash, you only wash for about 30 seconds once a day every day for 7-15 days or until the tattoo is completely healed and done peeling and scabbing.
Apply a VERY SMALL AMOUNT of Aquaphor 2-3 times a day for the first three days after the day of your tattoo. Make sure to gently rub the Aquaphor on and past the tattoo area so that there is no visible excess sitting on the tattoo. When done correctly it should not really look like anything is on the tattoo.
After the first three days switch to Lubraderm, Eucerin or any NON SCENTED WATER BASED skin lotion and apply a small amount 2-3 times a day for the next 7-12 days.
Do not: go in swimming pools, hot tubs, or submerge the fresh tattoo in any body of water. Do not go to the gym, yoga studio, or anywhere that there is a risk of touching the tattoo to other people's sweat or body fluids. This will put you highly at risk of getting a staff infection. If you wish to work out. Keep your workout light, don't sweat too much and after you work out wash with antibacterial soap, rinse and pat dry with a clean paper towel. Keep the tattoo out of direct sunlight while it's healing and use a minimum spf of 50 sunscreen after it is healed to protect the tattoo from the sun which can fade the color over time
